Social Media Giants Stand Up To Terrorism

The big giants of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Google and even Microsoft have all been discussing plans with the Home Secretary to fight terrorism. It is believed that the terrorist who attacked London’s West Minister was actually using WhatsApp minutes before attacking the innocent.

This is not the first time that a social media platform has been used when planning the terrorist attacks on around the world. The WhatsApp Application now uses end to end encryption which means it makes it harder for the authorities to hack data. But with ongoing terrorist attacks, each social media platform will now have set protocols to follow which will help gather data and the authorities in capturing before an event takes place.

The great thing is that WhatsApp is now co-operating with the authorities to ensure that all the data is passed over to investigate the London attacks. I personally don’t think personal privacy even comes into the equation when it comes to social media being used in an attack for terrorism. Twitter alone has closed over 600,000 accounts since 2015 because of terrorist content. The almighty Mark Zuckerberg has even stepped in and talked about tackling these issues.
