iOS Devices Can Now Have Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited Feature

Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited, a kid-friendly app full of educational apps and games, films and TV shows, has only ever been available on Amazon hardware.  Until now where it is being released on iOS devices.

Android devices managed to get a hold of the FreeTime service last year, which was still four years after the initial launch.

The app offers content and streaming from Nickelodeon, Disney and PBS Kids.  Experiencing the app on Apple products will be slightly different than on Amazon hardware.  For example, on a Kindle, parents have the ability to adjust the settings in a way that would keep kids from exiting the app so they can’t use anything else.  Apple doesn’t allow third-party apps to control a device in that way so parents will have to take extra precautions into ensuring their child does not explore other apps available on an iPad or other Apple product.

For it’s launch, Amazon is offering a 30-day trial of FreeTime Unlimited to iOS users.  If you decide you want to continue after the 30 days, there is a subscription fee of $2.99 (approx £2.30) for Prime members or $9.99 (approx £7.60) for access on multiple devices for people who don’t hold a prime account.

Would you feel safe letting your children use this app on your Apple device? Or do you prefer the safety of the Amazon products?  Get in touch and let us know in the comments…
