For a while now you have been able to mute Instagram stories without the account you’re muting knowing about it. Well now Instagram have introduced a much requested feature similar to this. Last week Instagram announced that it would be implementing a feature that would let you mute posts in your feed without the awkwardness of having to unfollow the account.
The way to use the feature is not very obvious so here is a quick guide on how to activate the mute button.
All you have to do is press the ellipsis button in the top right-hand corner of any post on your feed that you decide you don’t want to see. When you tap this button it should come up with an option to “mute” the user within the list of options it provides.
After clicking the “mute” button, it will then give you an option to confirm this is what you want to do incase you pressed it by mistake. During this step it will also give you the option to either just mute the account’s posts or to also mute their Instagram stories too.
If you only want to mute the users stories but not their posts, then to do this, when they have a story, simply hold down their story in the top panel of your Instagram feed and from there it will give you the option to mute their stories!
It is as simple as that! However I should note that currently this feature of muting posts is only currently available to users in the US however over the next few weeks Instagram will be rolling it out to all of their users!
Is this a feature you think will improve Instagram for you? Let me know in the comments below!
