It’s important that you understand what Shopify is before we show you how to add a google analytics. Shopify is a complete ecommerce solution that allows you to set up an online store to sell your goods. It lets you organize your products, customize your storefront, accept credit card payments, track and respond to orders…this all with a few clicks of the mouse.
Similar to the likes of WordPress and Magento, Shopify has its pros and cons, which we will cover in another post later this month.
As we know google analytics is extremely important in regards to analysing statistics. Being the most widely used web analytics service on the Internet, we going to have a look at how to add google analytics to the shopify platform. By now you should have already registered with Google Analytics and been given the tracking code which needs to be implemented into your shopify website.
Once you get your tracking code, you need to go into the backoffice of your website and follow the process below:
Settings > Online Store > Google Analytics (paste the tracking code in textbox)
Once this has been pasted, press save and you’re good to go! Please bare in mind that the google analytics does take time to collect information. In our next post we will detail more about the different platforms for shopping including more details about Shopify.
