WordPress blogging software has recently failed to patch up the weak security on their blog websites. It has been said 40,000 domains and over 1 million pages have been attacked by professional hackers. A security firm called Securi were the first to identify the attack by the hackers and have said that some hackers are now trying to take over the websites rather than corrupt the websites.
The security firm also believes that the hacker groups have now moved on from defacement to hijacking the site to make use of their own requirements. Website defacement is an attack on a website that changes the visual appearance of the site or a web page.
Google can also identify any websites that have been affected by hackers which will appear on a Google search. This, of course, can affect the running and ranking of your website and the trust of all people visiting your website.
