Amazon India signs a new deal with Warner Bros

Amazon India signs a new deal with Warner Bros to stream high-quality films and first-rate television series

Amazon India and Warner Bros. have signed a long-term content deal covering a range of films and TV shows, which will be available exclusively to Indian subscribers of the Prime Video service.

The news follows Amazon’s push into India, which sees it exploiting the large potential of the Indian market by pushing Prime Video.

Amazon Prime Video director and country head Nitesh Kripalani, said: “With top TV shows soon after their U.S. broadcast and classic ever-green movies and TV shows from the Warner Bros. studio, our Prime Video customers will see even further value in the Prime membership.“

Movie titles covered include the Tom Hanks film Sully, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, The Conjuring 2 and Lights Out, in addition to such catalog titles as Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, Annabelle and Into the Storm.

Its easy to see why more and more International brands are targeting the Indian market. The recent Mary Meeker Internet Report report stated: While the global Internet users growth rate remained flat at 10%, Internet user numbers in India grew more than 28% to 355 million users until mid-2016. Internet penetration stands at 27%, suggesting there is room for significant growth ahead.
