Blogging is a great way to drive traffic to your website. It may not work instantly but over time Google bots will identify keywords from your blog and help rank for those keywords. It’s always good to blog about trending topics. If you blog often then this will increase the number of relevant inbound links which will then direct readers to the main parts of your website.
